On Tuesday 26th November 2024, Sinnobator (a leading technology incubation & acceleration platform headquartered in Shanghai) held their first China-UK cross-border innovation exchange event in Newcastle upon Tyne, England.
Co-organised by the Sinnobator team & Paul Lancaster (PLATFORM | UK Startup Week), the event brought almost 50 entrepreneurs, academics & industry experts together to hear inspiring talks by the following:
This event marked an important step forward in the field of technology & innovation cooperation between China & the UK with further events & activities expected to take place in 2025.
Through in-depth, face-to-face exchanges, UK-based startups & innovators explored potential cooperation opportunities, a clear path for British companies & investors to enter the Chinese market & ways for Chinese companies to understand the British market & reduce barriers for cross-border cooperation. (We were delighted to have Philip Blacklock (International Trade Adviser, Department for Business & Trade) there in attendance).
Going forward, the Sinnobator UK programme will focus on scientific & technological cooperation between the two countries in cutting-edge fields such as the Internet of Things (IoT), advanced sensors, artificial intelligence & smart health care technology, helping businesses achieve rapid implementation & scale growth internationally by integrating multiple, collective resources.
It will not only connect the innovation ecosystems between China & the UK but also play an important role in helping businesses from both countries enhance their global competitiveness by providing market consulting, policy interpretation, technical support & other services.
On the day of the event, local businesses from the North East of England (SPARK EPOS, GRID Smarter Cities, Circadacare, ESG Excel & Definition IP Limited) & key members of the National Innovation Centre for Ageing delivered brilliant presentations about their work & had lively discussions with the guests about innovation, health & wellbeing technology, the Internet of Things, smart city construction & ESG (Environment, Society & Governance), shared practical experience & market insights & provided strong support for deepening cooperation between Chinese & British companies.
